INSPIRING DAILY DEVOTIONAL ® … Oppose your opposition
Text(s) for today: Read 2 Sam. 15; 17; Neh. 4:1 – 9
“Sanballat, Tobiah, and the people… heard that we were making progress and rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem… they were very angry. So they plotted … but we prayed…“ Neh. 4:7 – 9 GNB
How come some folks just get angry when others are progressing? Why is it that the progress of God’s people annoys many?
That tells you that in this world we have what I call ‘enemies of progress.’ These folks are against any thing that brings progress. I am sure at one point or the other in your life, you’ve had to handle such persons.
So how do we handle such opposition? It’s simple : oppose them.
Opposing them does not mean fighting with them physically. It is not even right to verbally abuse them (Luke 6:28).
Oppose the opposition through prayer.
“So they plotted … but we prayed …” Bible tells us of how King David opposed Ahitophel and Absalom through prayer (2 Sam. 15:31; 16:23; 17:14). In 2 Kings 19, we read how Hezekiah dealt with the opposition through prayer, gaining victory over the Assyrians. Praise God!
Refuse to be frightened by opposition. Know that you can oppose them better than they can oppose you – all through the power of prayer. Praise God!
Prayer & Confessions (pray out loudly)
Thank you Jesus for the power to oppose every adversary. I declare that enemies of progress will not have their wish fulfilled in my life, because I oppose each one of them in prayer. Glory to God! Amen!
