Text(s) for today: Read  Mal. 3:10-12, 2 Sam. 7:1-13.

“Bring ye all the tithes unto the storehouse, that there may be meat  in my house, and prove me  now herewith, saith  the LORD of host, if I will not open  you the windows of heaven and  pour out a blessing, that  there shall not be room enough to receive it. Mal. 3:10 KJV

“Bring ye all the tithes unto the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and prove me now herewith…if I will not… pour out a blessing…”

In legal studies, we have the term, ‘the spirit of the law.’ The ‘spirit of the law’ refers to what influences a law to be formulated. For example, if people are stealing belongings of their neighbours after 12 midnight leads to the formulation of a new rule/law that imposes a curfew after 12, the spirit behind that curfew is theft prevention/reduction.

When it comes to the amendment of this curfew law, it’s necessary one allows the spirit of that law to greatly influence the amendment. If  that does not happen, the amendment will make the law inefficient as far as theft prevention/reduction is concerned.

In our key verse above, we…unravel  ‘the spirit‘ behind God asking us to give.

“… that there may be meat in my house,” He says; that’s why He wants us to give . That’s the ‘spirit of the law.’ We all don’t like bankruptcy, God doesn’t like his house to go bankrupt either.

Beloved, God is not happy or pleased with us when there are lacks and wants in His house. He’s unhappy when the church can’t carry out her projects because of dearth of funds. God wants ‘meat’ in his house – lots of money  ALWAYS! He doesn’t want his house ‘dry’ and that’s the spirit behind the law of giving to God.

Be a big-time financier of the kingdom. Don’t be one of  those folks who would go sit in  wooden structure churches, close and drive their luxurious cars after service. You can’t do that when you’ve God at heart – you’ll certainly want to improve  the house of God !

Let’s be like David who after noticing that the house of the Lord was in tent decided to build God a temple  (2 Sam. 7:1-17). Praise God!

Let God’s house matter to you. As you do that, our key verse says, He’ll “pour out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” In order words, you’ll be so blessed to embarrassment. Start from today!

Prayer & Confessions  (pray out loudly)

Like David, help me set affection on the house of God (1 Chron 29:3). I receive grace today to ensure that there’s always meat in your house. Thank you for your blessing upon my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
